Stellar Addition

Pictured here is an abstract watercolor of my latest addition to the new dry garden —‘Big Blue’ Eryngium. This sea holly with its silver leaves and blue, star-shaped flowers should do well in this drier, unirrigated area mixing among salvias and grasses.

The Waterloque watercolor was made from a photo that not only recorded the plant’s dramatic bloom, but also captured a very happy bumblebee that clearly had been overserved. (The bee is the brownish bump hugging the Eryngium flower on the left.)

So this new plant addition has made one gardener and one bee very happy.
