Spring Green

Ostrich ferns stand tall behind a redbud tree

I love this time of year when everything is greening up.  Newly emerging leaves on perennials, shrubs and trees exhibit the most brilliant shades of green, ranging from pale chartreuse to lime.

This new vegetation fills the leafless voids that made the garden so stark during the colder months. Bare branches and dark green evergreens that were dominant in winter now fade into the background.

Everything looks so fresh and crisp. These vivid colors brighten my Hamptons garden and my spirits even on this cloudy day.
